Abstract

In this keynote event British choreographer Rosemary Butcher, in conversation with Stefanie Sachsenmaier, will discuss her intricate connection and preoccupation with the visual arts.
Over the past few decades, Rosemary Butcher has presented choreographic works in art spaces and has collaborated with several professional artists and architects. Butcher, who has never received a formal visual arts training, will consider the influences she received by living in New York City in the early 1970s, as well as her by regular visits to events such as the Venice Biennale, in connection to her creative practice.
Focusing on the notion of ‘the body recording itself’ and processes of remembering physical sources, Butcher will reference the making of previous as well as future works in view of her interest in a visual art perspective.
