Authors | Leeson, L. |
Abstract | Loraine Leeson will look at the role that The Docklands Community Poster Project played in the community-led campaign that challenged the redevelopment of the London Docklands by the Thatcher government of the 1980s. She will explore the politics and practice of art that sets out to make a difference, highlighting the importance of the nature of that collaboration, and particularly how artistic process can help bring local knowledge into the public domain. Her presentation concludes with the legacy of this community activism, how it has been developed, realised, funded and managed, and the questions it continues to raise. |
