Abstract

Introduction: Welcome to this new section. Research underpins our midwifery profession and the next few issues will include a series of short papers by Robin Parsons, Midwifery lecturer at Middlesex University, to help us all gain a better understanding of terminology, methodology and how to use research in our midwifery practice.

Maternity and Infant Care (MIC), now included in your MIDIRS subscription, is the largest maternity database and is used worldwide by academic institutions and hospitals. The first Demystifying research section also includes a guide to getting the most out of searching MIC.
