Title of work | Recorder Concerto for recorder and ensemble |

Alternative | Concerto for Recorder |
Creators | Inglis, B. |
Description | The Recorder Concerto is a response both to the Baroque heritage of the recorder and to its later 20th century reincarnation in the hands of players such as Franz Brüggen and Michael Vetter. This duality is reflected in the ensemble (which adds to the Classical strings, winds, horns and harpsichord a modern piano, harp and a variety of 20th century percussion instruments) and also in the polystylistic musical content, which encompasses quasi-Baroque, quasi-Classical, Romantic, experimental, modernist and minimalist styles. Extended techniques include harmonics, multiphonics and microtones. There are also passages of aleatory counterpoint. |
