Abstract

An account of the composition process of 'Etudes de concert 1' (2021) and 'Sailing to Byzantium' (1999) for solo recorder, exploring context and sources of inspiration. Also discussing the preparation of the published score (Composers Edition 2023, 2024), collaboration with performer Elizabeth Knatt, and recordings released on the KAIROS label as part of the album 'To Byzantium and beyond' (2024).
