Description

The music of this piece was inspired by a visit to Inchcolm Abbey on Inchcolm island in the Firth of Forth, Scotland. The choice of words, and to an extent the structure, was informed by Bruckner's famous setting of this liturgical text. The neo-medieval soundworld with its organum-like parallelisms was suggested by the abbey ruins.
