Abstract

A brief account in Q&A format of the circumstances of, and my approach to, writing a cadenza for Malcolm Arnold's Clarinet Concerto No 2. This forms the middle section (pp 47-48), subtitled 'Chromaticism and multiphonics', of a composite article with outer sections by Peter Cigleris and Paul Harris. The cadenza in question was published by Composers Edition, by arrangement with Faber Music, in 2021.
