Abstract	This article introduces the author's Recorder Concerto which explores the recorder's potential as a concertante instrument and the protagonist of a dramatic structure. It outlines the piece's structure, instrumentation, stylistic references, and some of the compositional and performance techniques employed. The latter include aleatory counterpoint, multiphonics, microtones, harmonics and glissandi.
