| Abstract | The interplay between work and family life poses significant challenges, particularly for women, whose experiences are often shaped by intersecting social, cultural, and economic factors. Traditional perspectives on this interface often stem from Global North contexts, potentially overlooking the nuanced dynamics of power and privilege, as well as the impact of intersectional identities. Drawing upon a critical lens informed by transdisciplinarity and intersectionality, this paper delves into the complexities of the work-family interface with a focus on fostering diversity and inclusion. A critical perspective enriches our understanding of the work-family interface by examining underlying power dynamics and structural inequalities that perpetuate gender disparities. This critical lens calls for transformative practices that challenge gender norms and create inclusive workplaces that accommodate diverse needs and experiences. Transdisciplinary approaches facilitate collaboration across diverse fields of knowledge to explore the multifaceted nature of the work/family interface. By integrating insights from multiple disciplines and practice, transdisciplinary thinking allows for a deeper understanding of the intersecting and transcontextual factors that influence individuals' experiences in the work and family spheres. Through a critical review of existing literature combined with netnography, we question the concept of “balance” in the context of work and family dynamics and explore the potential of inclusive practices and policy interventions to address the intersecting challenges faced by women. By amplifying women's voices and experiences, we aspire to contribute to ongoing discussions aimed at fostering diversity, inclusion, and gender equity within workplaces and beyond. |
