Abstract

The leather jacket never really suited him. Too stiff in the shoulders.

The first jacket. Then the second. The Italian leather man bag. The mustard Ralph Lauren sweater.

For the luxury hotel in Crete. For dinners in Búzios. For Parsons Green, where he once lifted his chin slightly and said: we fit right in here.

The careful poses in pubs. The practiced expressions while ordering steak, red wine, premium gin. The quiet man mistaken for elegance.

But then there were the other details. Hours in the bathroom. Perfectly ironed shirts. Buttons fastened so high he could barely breathe. Shoes returned carefully to their original boxes. Always cleaning his hands.

Even the leather jacket looked borrowed on him.
