Abstract

Semi-autonomous micro-mobility vehicles face collision risks in controlled environments where static-distance braking fails to account for momentum. While mmWave radar enables long-range perception, its high-frequency jitter induces unstable control and electromechanical chattering during deceleration. We present a physics-informed sensor fusion architecture that asymmetrically combines mmWave radar with a Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor for robust near-field perception while preserving velocity awareness. A Time-to-Collision (TTC)-based gain scheduling mechanism adaptively regulates braking urgency based on collision risk. Evaluation on an indigeneously developed IoT-based Segway demonstrates reduced collision risk and smooth, stable deceleration across varying speeds.
