Abstract | As symbolised perhaps, by the Clash's 1977 take on Junior Murvin's 'Police and Thieves,' there has been a longstanding relationship between punk and reggae. Drawing upon the work of, amongst others, Don Letts, PiL, the Clash and the Ruts, this lecture looks at the complex, almost symbiotic, relationship between punk and reggae looking specifically at the notiond of shared music-making and cultural origins. |
