Abstract | It is often noted how punk pedagogy lies at the intersection between radical, anarchist and critical pedagogies. Here, punk pedagogy – both within and outside of the academy – are common in their attitude towards being anti-establishment. However, what happens when that interpretation is turned upside down? When ‘rules’ are embraced and when punks turn to established institutions for guidance? Drawing specifically from the speaker’s research on Krishnacore, this keynote looks at the complex interchange between punk pedagogy and the Hare Krishna Movement: in particular, interrogating the role that these juxtaposing polar opposites have in terms of autodidactic and traditional notions of spirituality. |
