Abstract | This document presents the report on the initial requirements analysis for citizen observatories of water that are designed, developed and implemented during the WeSenseIt project. The observatories will be tested in three distinct case study locations: Doncaster (UK), Delfland (NL) and Alto Adriatico (Italy). The report focuses on the initial requirements analysis of stakeholders in terms of their preferences for the technological components of the citizen observatory for the design and use of sensors, models and decision support features, as well as feedback and interaction mechanisms of the project web platform. This initial analysis will quickly allow the assembly of a first version of the various technologies to be tested in the case studies, which at this stage will constitute largely pre-existing technology modified to fit the WeSenseIt case study scenarios and requirements. In order to harness environmental data and knowledge to effectively and efficiently manage water resources, the citizen observatory of water, which will allow citizens and communities to take on a new role in the information chain by the use of innovative sensor devices which can be used directly by the citizens e.g. to collect precipitation, temperature, water level, moisture, cloud coverage or water quality data to help them make better informed decisions. |
