Abstract

This chapter is divided into two sections; the first section explores the theoretical principles underpinning qualitative research approaches and seeks to explore and explain the central importance of context in which the research is undertaken. The second section examines the application of theory into a specific empirical case study to explain the theoretical approach in practice and pragmatic and iterative approach to facilitate access to the community being investigated and explores issues around access, participant engagement and researcher role among others.
