| Title | Jeremy Jacquet and Liverpool, the numbers behind a long-term defensive bet |

| Abstract | I first became seriously aware of Jeremy Jacquet through sustained analysis rather than headline noise. What stands out immediately is not hype, but trajectory. When we run Jacquet through comparative data models, repeatedly and across different snapshots, the same conclusion keeps coming back. This is a defender whose numbers already belong in conversations well beyond his age bracket, as the below radar from a recent game shows, he is at or just above the required level in key metrics, in games, against older, more experienced CBs. At 20, playing regular top-flight football in France, his impact percentile sits in the 90s, which for a centre back is extraordinary. That metric matters to me more than raw volume stats because it captures how often a player meaningfully alters phases of play. Jacquet is not padding numbers in passive systems. He is actively stopping threat, stepping forward, compressing space, and initiating possession from defensive zones. Defensively, the profile is unusually complete. He ranks above 90th percentile for threat prevented and defensive aerial duels, while also sitting comfortably above average for tackles and interceptions. That combination is rare. Many young defenders specialise early, either front-foot aggressors or box defenders. Jacquet already shows balance across both, and that is before coaching refinement. |
