The collection and comparison of stakeholders' opinions on urban stormwater control measures: consulting experience within the UK

Individual consultations were conducted with 9 representatives of the actors involved in urban development operations conducted in eastern England, near Cambridge, the home of Clay Farm and Addenbrooke's Hospital. This is one of 4 case studies of European research program DayWater on management at the source of urban stormwater. The players selected represent the residents, the planners of the city and "county" of Cambridge, engineers and framework of the Environment Agency for England and Wales. Before every game these 9 people received an email introducing DayWater and instructions for using the matrix comparison of 4 techniques envisaged that the portal and available over the internet. Each player has completed and submitted a comparison matrix, in which he estimated the values of 6 performance indicators and their respective weights. Following this consultation the wetlands have emerged as favorites of all those consulted, followed by valleys, ditches filter and conventional sewerage. These actors have also evaluated the portal DayWater documentary and presented their views on issues relating to the promotion and use of alternative techniques to the sewerage system.
