Abstract | In this paper, key criteria which can assist stakeholders in determining the most appropriate stormwater BMP for a specific catchment area are identified. The selected criteria are fully described in terms of how they will support users to select the most appropriate stormwater BMPs in the face of the conflicting demands posed by factors such as system performance, environmental impact, adoption, community benefits and life cycle costs. More detail on the characteristics of individual BMPs can be found in the comprehensive on-line information resource and database which constitutes the DayWater BMP catalogue. The developed criteria, and associated indicators, form the basis of the performance matrix which has been developed for evaluating and prioritising stormwater source control systems within the DayWater Multi-Criteria Comparator (MCC). In situations where it is particularly important that stakeholders consider how their selection of suitable BMPs impacts on urban social structures, a broader consideration of the urban dynamics may be relevant. |
