Abstract | This paper describes extensions to the Claims Analysis method to make it applicable to Digital Library design and evaluation. Refinements aim to help DL developers generate and assess ‘claims' relevant to their design concerns. Systematic studies on a commercial DL project found CA to be more difficult than expected to learn, to communicate to systems developers, and to apply effectively in practice. However, the method's generation and use of scenarios were found be to provide a useful tool. The paper will be a valuable critical addition to the CA literature and the empirical investigation of scenario-based design and evaluation methods. |
