Abstract | This is the first paper from the EPSRC/SPARC funded research project: ‘An investigation into the advanced technology desires, needs and requirements of older drivers', which was led by Bradley as PI, and was a collaborative project in conjunction with Middlesex's Computing Science department, Brunel University Design Department and the Ford Motor Company. Bradley had previously been leading in-house research into this area when he was Head of Human Factors at the Ford Motor Company, from whence the Third Age Suit was created (an empathic device for young designers and engineers to use to experience some of the effects of ageing). The project investigated how advanced technology could assist older drivers with their use of the car, through user led elicitation and design methods. |
