Abstract | The aim of this paper is to describe ongoing research being carried out to enable people with visual impairments to communicate directly with designers and specifiers of hobby and community web sites to maximise the accessibility of their sites. The research started with an investigation of the accessibility of community and hobby web sites as perceived by a group of visually impaired end users. It is continuing with an investigation into how to best to communicate with web designers who are not experts in web accessibility. The research is making use of communication theory to investigate how terminology describing personal experience can be used in the most effective and powerful way. By working with the users using a Delphi study the research has ensured that the views of the visually impaired end users is successfully transmitted. |
