Abstract

The objectives of this evaluation, commissioned by Health Education England North Central East London (HEENCEL) from Centre for Critical Research in Nursing and Midwifery (CCRNM) at Middlesex University were:
• Collate the level of multi-professional education across the study CEPNs by means of analysis of reports published by the CEPNs
• Summarise the stated aims of multi-professional education initiatives across the CEPNs
• Summarise the results of local evaluations of multi-professional education across the study CEPNs – including those evaluations that attempt to identify their impact on changes in practice (e.g. levels of multi-professional collaboration)
• Evaluate the quality of published local evaluations
• Identify those factors considered by CEPNs to be barriers and facilitators to multi-professional education
• Identify the strengths and impact of multi-professional education initiatives in the NCEL area
• Make recommendations for high quality approaches to evaluating multi-professional education
• Make recommendations for approaches to multi-professional education most likely to be effective
