Abstract

This paper reports on work funded through a 3-year Australian Research Council's SPIRT (Strategic Partnership with Industry – Research and Training) Grant, Project No. C00107069. The paper describes one of the experiments conducted to evaluate a new supervisory control interface for hydro-electric power control. The interface was designed based on a Cognitive Systems Engineering approach. The interface is novel as it provided, for the first time, information for a controller to manage electricity production in response to future, forecasted and real-time electricity market changes. The industry partner has adopted these interface designs for use in their power control systems in Australia.
