Abstract

This is an essay accompanying the CD/DVD entitled KnowingUnknowing, which is released by Farpoint Records 2019. The essay discusses the guitar music of the featured Irish composers - David Fennessy, Paul Hayes, Judith Ring, Peter Moran and Benjamin Dwyer - within the context of postmodernism. The essay explores musicologically, aesthetically and culturally each featured composition and how they reflect the aesthetic and political changes taking place in Irish art composition over the past thirty years or so.
