Title | Pauline Barrie talks with Katy Deepwell: Founding feminism: womens workshop, artists union and women artists slide library |
Authors | Barrie, P. and Deepwell, K. |
Abstract | In this major interview, Pauline Barrie discusses her work in founding Women Artists Slide Library and how this arose from her growing political consciousness and experiences both as an art student, an artist and an activist in the Artist's Union, particularly the Women's Workshop in the early 1970s. The interview looks at how important a strong political strategy about documentation was to the founding of the Library as a reference library and the difficulties in starting such organisations on a formal basis in the late 1970s and early 1980s. |
